Coming home: why run

In ten days a return home. The doubts begin to linger in the waiting stage Have I rested too long? Did I really train enough and place my body through the hardships to remember how to cope? A new question of failure exists now: being Lackadaisical. This is a third state now and probably the 7th multiday ultra marathon; yes each more challenging and different. I feel I am get to comfy. It is always hard to manage the logistics of the event, to endure the pounding on the body, and ask more of…See More

Mapping Florida and Rallying the TEAM!

I have remapped the route across Florida from Ragnar Relay 36 Legs! I must say it looks a little daunting. There are a lot of trails that I hope the bike rider can go on. Trails are good and bad. Good to keep us off the FL roads, but bad because we don't know the condition of trails (payment/gravel/wildlife) and being cut-off from vehicle. Here are the routes which I have broken up into three sections corresponding to the three sections of the Relay (which will catch up to me on Day 3.)Port…See More

On the road to Georgia tomorrow

The route of the run can be found on the Pedometer:http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=3740774It seems so easy to slide the picture across the state on the Pedometer. I don't think it will be that easy!. Though to be honest sometimes it is easybut then again....sometimes it is difficult. You never know when you are going to feel good and when you are going to feel bad. In the morning you may feel so sick that you don't understand how you will…See More

Remember the past to propell us into the future

Everything is ready.....well not really, but nonetheless we move forward toward the starting line. We are challenged by both the physical road that lies before us and the goals to raise money on behalf of those I run for. I have good folks who will take care me. I could not do this without them just as I could not have done this without so many who have helped in the past.. Ready or not we have chosen the this challenge. In building and planning for the old I cannot help but remember and…See More

road rules

ok...so even the best laid plans may mean you have to adjust. We arrived at the meeting at 3PM and I soon discovered I was bucking the system and needed to adjust. Fort Benning is really going out of the way to give us access to few roads that are normally not accessible by the public. As well we are getting an escort through the base......So we changed our plans. I will begin with all the others at 12AM. As opposed to the alternative of "going alone" and "you could get picked up by base…

B&B in Gainesville

Evelyn, Margarita, and I stayed at Aunt Sally's house in Gainesville, GA. We had dinner on the deck shaded by the beautiful oaks overhead. Sally gave us the lowdown on GA and our route then guided us on today's other adventure "Callaway Gardens."

This morning Margarita came dressed in her Pink Bandana ready for adventure.

We are all excited and a little afraid of the adventures that await each of us.
